1 x Diesel Mechanic

We are a fast growing company, looking for Senior Diesel Mechanics – to diagnose, assemble, maintain and repair Trucks & Commercial Vehicles  efficiently and effectively.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Diagnose, assemble, build and repair, service and maintain trucks and commercial vehicles and fleet according to requirements

• Inspect engines, transmissions etc. and run diagnostic tests to discover functionality issues

• Conduct repairs aiming for maximum reliability

• Troubleshoot reported problems and resolve them in a timely manner • Perform thorough maintenance on trucks, equipment and vehicles

• Clean and apply lubricants to fleet components

• Replenish fluids and components of engines and vehicles 

• Provide consultation on correct maintenance and preventative measures to machine or vehicle users

• Undertake other duties as assigned

• Keep logs of work and report on issues

• Assist the Mechanical Maintenance team

• Actively participate and drive maintenance process improvements

• Assist contracts admin with ensuring that the project schedule effectively manages procurement package

• Liaise with clients on maintenance, project and breakdown-related issues.

• Ensure implementation and adherence to quality standards

• Ensure safe working environment and conditions and control contamination

• Control Administration

• Calculating the potential costs of repair and new components

• Compile accurate customer machine analysis and reports including Machine Inspection Reports (MIR) and Technical Analysis Reports (TAR)

• Maintain professional image when representing the company.

• Ensure quality control and productivity standards of own work are consistently and accurately maintained.

Desired Experience & Qualification

• 3 years Apprenticeship Programme and Trade Test qualification in Diesel Mechanic/Trucks & Commercial Vehicles Mechanic

• 8 – 10 years relevant experience post qualification

• Proficient in MS Office Suite, plus MS projects

• Working knowledge of quality systems and Health, Safety and Environmental management

• Strong people management skills, interpersonal and communication

• Welding experience an added advantage

• Valid driving License (PDP)

• Computer literate • Technical report writing

• Problem solving skills

• Innovation and change management skills

• Sound interpersonal and Communication Skills

• Basic business and financial understanding

• No criminal record

Package & Remuneration Cost to Company: R25 000 – R35 000 pm Tools of Trade: Company Cellphone
