Purpose of role:

Responsible for repairing and restoring vehicle bodywork to its original condition after it has been damaged in accidents or due to other causes.

Job Description:

Responsibilities:

• Vehicle Assessment: Inspect vehicles to assess the extent of damage to the bodywork and identify necessary repairs.

• Repair Work: Utilize various tools and techniques to repair dents, scratches, and other damage to vehicle panels, bumpers, and frames.

• Panel Replacement: Remove and replace damaged panels as needed, ensuring proper fit and alignment.

• Welding: Perform welding tasks to repair or fabricate metal components of vehicles.

• Body Filling: Apply body filler and other materials to smooth out imperfections and prepare surfaces for painting.

• Paint Preparation: Prepare vehicle surfaces for painting by sanding, priming, and masking off areas not to be painted.

• Quality Control: Inspect repaired vehicles to ensure that work meets quality standards and customer requirements.

• Documentation: Keep detailed records of work performed, including parts used, labor hours, and customer information.

• Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment. Requirements:

• Experience: Proven experience as a panel beater in the automotive industry, with a strong understanding of repair techniques and materials.

• Technical Skills: Proficiency in using tools and equipment such as hammers, dent pullers, welding machines, and spray guns.

• Attention to Detail: Ability to work with precision and accuracy to achieve high-quality results.

Physical Stamina: Capable of performing physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects and standing for extended periods.

• Teamwork: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

• Certification: Certification or formal training in panel beating or auto body repair is preferred but not always required.
