1 x Workshop Foreman
Introduction
We require a Workshop Foreman with experience in the repair, panel beating and assembly of heavy commercial vehicles (trucks and/or Light commecrial vehihicls) to be based at our reputable company on the Marlborough.
We are looking for hard-working, dedicated professional to join and grow with this dynamic team
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Diagnose and troubleshoot fleet equipment issues, either independently or with the Workshop Manager’s guidance.
• Ensure timely and standard completion of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks on fleet equipment.
• Offer technical expertise to workshop staff during problem diagnosis and maintenance execution, collaborating with the Workshop Manager for major mechanical issues and repairs.
• Collaborate with the Workshop Manager to fulfil ad-hoc requests for new equipment or modifications to existing machinery, providing technical insights.
• Perform daily quality checks on work completed promptly implementing necessary rectifications, and reporting any quality compliance concerns to the Workshop Manager.
• Ensure workshop compliance with OHS Act and relevant regulations, monitoring safety procedures, and reporting deviations to management.
• Contribute to safety procedure development, including PPE guidelines, tool and equipment usage, promoting safe work practices to minimize incidents and injuries.
• Ensure accurate staff clocking and leave approval, and manage fuel stock levels and consumable checks for maintenance, reporting deviations to the Workshop Manager.
• Maintain workshop supplies and monitor work order requests, reporting any challenges or disciplinary issues to the Workshop Manager for resolution.
• Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of production workers, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and in accordance with established procedures and standards.
• Monitor production processes to identify areas for improvement and implement effective solutions to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
• Develop and implement production schedules, ensuring that they are aligned with customer demands and deadlines.
• Assign tasks and responsibilities to production workers, providing clear instructions and guidance to ensure the quality and timely completion of work.
• Train new employees on production procedures, safety protocols, and quality standards to ensure they are equipped to perform their roles effectively.
• Conduct regular performance evaluations of production workers, providing feedback and coaching to improve their skills and performance.
• Collaborate with other departments, such as mechanical, electrical and maintenance, to ensure smooth production operations and address any technical issues or equipment malfunctions promptly.
• Maintain accurate records of production data, such as output, downtime, and waste, and prepare reports for management to analyse performance and make informed decisions.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards to create a safe working environment for all production workers.
• Foster a positive and collaborative work culture by promoting teamwork, communication, and employee engagement.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team. • Excellent organizational and time management abilities to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of production processes, equipment, and materials used in the sector.
• Proficient in problem-solving and decision-making, with the ability to resolve mechanical, electricial or administrative issues promptly.
• Effective communication skills to convey information clearly to production workers, management, and other departments.
• Detail-oriented with a focus on quality control and adherence to standards.
• Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced production environment.
• Proficient computer skills with knowledge of production management software and Microsoft Office Suite. Requirements:
• Diesel Mechanic Qualification with 3 years post-trade experience
• 5 years’ experience within a workshop environment, preferably within the Vehicle and/or trucking industry.
• Strong understanding of Mechanical principles
• Good mechanical diagnostic skills
• Good understanding of health and safety principles and OHS Act.
• Moderate Excel and computer literacy skills
• Job card management

• Fault Finding on buses and trucks Desired Experience & Qualification Requirements:
• Diesel mechanic or similar trade qualification.
• 5 years’ experience within a workshop environment, preferably within the Vehicle and/or trucking industry.
• Strong understanding of Mechanical principles
• Good mechanical diagnostic skills
• Good understanding of health and safety principles and OHS Act.
• Moderate Excel and computer literacy skills

• Grade 12 or N3.
• Code 14 driver’s license
• Valid PrDP license.
